In his 6th year at MHMS, Mr. Robbins continues to teach Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Science classes to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. He is a graduate of Cal State East Bay and holds a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies with an Early Childhood Studies option. He has worked in the public school system for 6 years, teaching middle school mathematics and science in east Oakland. He completed his Multiple-Subjects Teaching Credential while at Cal State East Bay and has taught kindergarten through 8th grade. In his free time, Mr. Robbins enjoys spending time with his children, playing soccer, and spending time at the beach.
Mrs. Nirmala Yuvaraj has been teaching 6th- 7thgrade Math and 5th-7thgrade Computer Science at MHMS for 3 years. She has a Master’s degree in Math and a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She also has a programming diploma in computer applications from India. She has worked in many different classroom settings, teaching children of various ages. She strongly believes that practical application in math is crucial, and enjoys teaching this to her students. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and walking.
Ms. Lila Sterling has been teaching for over 14 years. This is her 3rd year at MHMS. She loves teaching, exploring new topics, and engaging students. Her extensive background includes; 6th Grade Middle School Math, Science, Private School Biology, Science, Chemistry and Computers, Vocational School Math, English, Anatomy, Physiology, and Laboratory procedures. Ms. Sterling lives in the East Bay and in her spare time she enjoys reading, gardening, sewing and crafts, and spending time with her family.
HISTORY & ENGLISH
Christine Hansen- Head of English Department
In her 3rd year at MHMS, Ms. Hansen is the Head of the English Department. She not only teaches the current 7th and 8th Englsih classes, but also plans many middle school field trips and activities. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development from Cal State East Bay and has been teaching grades 4-8 in a private school setting for 18 years. She believes that the better students can communicate with each other through solid English skills, the better they can communicate with the rest of the world. Ms. Hansen has two adult sons, enjoys hiking with her dog, Toby, and visiting the beach at her “happy place,” in Morro Bay along the Central Coast.
This is Mr. Cervone's 3rd year at MHMS as the history teacher. He comes to the Bay Area from New York and brings his passion for past and current events daily to his students. Students look forward to his class and love his easy-going, caring personality.

Amanda (Alexander) Contreras
This is Mrs.Contreras's 8th year at MHMS, her 3rd year at the Castro Valley campus. Mrs.Contreras has a Bachelor of Arts degree in art education with a minor in mathematics as well as her elementary education certification. She has over 10 years of Jr.K-5th grade teaching experience. Mrs.Contreras loves to create a nurturing learning environment for her students and to inspire them to become lifelong learners.
Tammy Pachura (Mentor Teacher)
In her 8th year at MHMS, Ms. Pachura enjoys teaching 2nd graders and mentoring teachers in grades K-2. She has a B.A. in Social Work with an emphasis in Child Behavior and Development.Teaching in different private school settings has given her the opportunity to teach a diverse group of students ranging from those who functioned on and above grade level standards, to students challenged with emotional or behavioral issues. She has in-depth knowledge of accommodating different styles of learning and incorporating effective methods to meet students' unique needs. No matter what the topic may be, Mrs.Pachura always finds way to spark the interest of her students and engage them in the learning process. In her free time, she likes to spend time with her husband and children.
With over 26 years of teaching experience in the private school setting, Ms. Allender has been passionately teaching the 1st or 2nd graders at MHMS for six years. She is not only a great team player, but also an amazing leader. She has a desire to provide quality education to her students which will allow them to succeed in all academic areas. Mrs.Allender adapts her lessons to fit the needs of her students and their abilities. Her classroom is always organized and ready to show each child's creativity. When she is not teaching or developing exciting lesson plans, Mrs.Allender enjoys spending time with her two daughters, Rebekah and Amber.
This is Ms. Quintana's fifth year teaching 3rd graders at MHMS. Ms.Quintana has studied within the Child Development field, giving her the tools necessary to understand where children are capable of thriving. She is also very familiar with current study techniques and programs that are available to aide students reach their full potential. She has also been in various school settings in the past 10 years, allowing her to experience different school curriculums. She hopes to use her experiences to help her students become well-rounded learners. In her free time...well, with a full-time teaching position and 4 children, she doesn't have much free time. But she loves to be with her family when she is not working. She is very excited that her 2 little ones will be at MHMS with her.
This is Mrs. Shaner's 4th year at MHMS. She brings with her over 30 years of experience, nurturing, and leadership. She is an amazing team player as well as a role model to the younger teachers. She loves to empower her students and make them excited about learning. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her cats, friends, and family.
In her 5th year at MHMS, Mrs.Rutter will be teaching the 3rd graders. Ms.Rutter has a B.A. in Liberal Arts from California State East Bay University in Hayward with a minor in human development. With over 20 years of experience in teaching elementary grades, Ms.Rutter is able to respond to different student needs and personalities. She loves to create an environment where the students feel safe and unique. In her free time, Mrs.Rutter likes to spend time with her husband, children and grand-children.
Rebekah (Allender) Schlimmer
This is Ms. Rebekah Schlimmer's 7th year teaching the 4th graders at Mission Hills Middle School. Ms. Schlimmer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from CSU East Bay, as well as a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. She has also received her Master’s Degree in Educational Technology Leadership. Ms. Schlimmer has experience teaching Preschool to 5th grade students in a variety of settings. She enjoys incorporating creative art projects and technology into curriculum to meet the learning needs of all students. Coming from a family of teachers has helped mold her into the teacher that she is today. In her free time, she enjoys watching Reality TV and going to many sporting events with her family & husband (primarily A’s baseball and Sharks hockey).
With her passion for teaching, unconditional love for children, and perpetual enthusiasm, Ms. Do is ecstatic to continue teaching fourth grade at MHMS. Ms. Do possesses a Bachelor’s in Psychology from San Jose State University, a Master’s in Elementary Education from University of Phoenix, and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California. It is her ultimate goal to provide a safe, interactive, and productive learning environment, in which all students are able to excel, no matter what their learning styles or abilities. Ms. Do has been married for nearly 13 years and has a eleven-year-old son and a six year-old daughter also attending MHMS. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, running, reading, and practicing piano.
In his 9th year at MHMS, Mr. Mitch Lin continues to teach one of the 5th grade classes. Mr.Lin has a B.S. from California State East Bay University Hayward and a Masters in Education from the University of Phoenix. He also holds a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in the State of California. Mitch has over five years of experience working with students in a variety of settings. He strives to create an environment where students feel safe, challenged, and motivated to learn. His students always look forward to going to the Science Camp with him. When not teaching, Mitch enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 little ones.
This is Ms.Bonar's 4th year teaching 5th graders at MHMS. Ms.Bonar has a B.A. in English with a Minor in Elementary Education, with an emphasis on Developmental Reading. She brings with her many years of teaching experience, a great passion for education, and an amazing sense of humor. She loves STEM activities and Harry Potter.
MHMS JUNIOR-KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM:
For the 8th year in a row, the MHMS Junior Kindergarten program is led by Ms.Mayette who has taught children ages 4-5 for over 25 years. With her educational background and extensive experience, Ms.Mayette meets the individual needs of the children in her classroom and ensures that they are well-prepared for kindergarten. Parents welcome her expertise and willingness to always take the time to talk to them. She provides such a warm, nurturing environment that the children are happy to tackle any new,challenging concept that she introduces to them. Her creative projects decorate the walls outside her classroom. She never runs out of energy! In her free time, Ms.Mayette loves to spend time with her two sons.
MHMS KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM:
In her 5th year at MHMS, Ms. Knew is extremely excited to continue as one of the Kindergarten teachers. She has a BA in multimedia technologies from Lincolnshire University, UK and Earlier Childhood Studies teaching credential from Ohlone College. She has 11 years of experience teaching Pre-K in the Cupertino School district. Ms. Knew was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and speaks 5 languages fluently; English, Malay, Chinese Mandarin, Cantonese, and Hokkien. Doing arts and crafts is one of her passions, and she loves to incorporate this into her teaching style. Her two boys attend MHMS. In her free time, she loves spending time with her husband and her boys. They love exploring life and our natural environment through camping and traveling.
This is Ms. Christine's 7th year at MHMS, and once again, she will be working as a Kindergarten teacher's assistant to help the students reach their full potential. Ms.Christine graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Child Development. She has been working with kids for over 8 years and loves every minute of it. Her passions include working with kids, arts and crafts, and the Golden State Warriors (NBA Champs!). You can always catch her playing with the kids, laughing, and running around.
Ms.Priscilla, also known as the 'school daughter,' has been at MHMS for over 7 years. Whether she is assigned to the older students or the younger ones, outside or inside, classtime or playtime, Ms.Priscilla always knows how to manage the students. She is taking Early Childhood Education classes and loves being Ms.Sara's assistant.
This is Ms.Ashley's 3rd year at Mission Hills Schools. She has a BA in Human Development with an emphasis in Early Childhood Development from CSU East Bay. She is currently teaching one of the Kindergarten classes and loves the energy and enthusiasm of this age group. Ms. Ashley has two children also attending MHMS. In her freetime, she likes to spend time with her children.
Ann Marisela Torres
In her 7th year with MHMS, Ms.Mary, as the students call her, continues to teach the Kindergarten students at Mission Hills School in Castro Valley. She brings her passion, her laughter, and her creativity to the students, engaging them every step of the way. She has experience teaching Spanish, supervising the school library, and working with different age levels. She has two children, a son and a daughter.
In her 9th year as the counselor at Mission Hills Middle School, Mrs.Boisseree is excited about helping to build an environment that supports each child’s learning style, strengths, and talents. She adheres to a proactive and prevention model that empowers students to become active and responsible participants in their academic learning and social interactions. She loves learning, exploring ideas, and making connections. Her degrees in counseling, psychology, social welfare, and education are a testament to her belief in lifelong learning (B.A. in psychology and social welfare from the University of California, Berkeley; M.S. in counseling and child clinical psychology from California State University, East Bay; California license as an Educational Psychologist; California Pupil Personnel Services Credential in Counseling and School Psychology). For over twenty years, she has worked with students of various grade levels (from preschool through college), their teachers, and parents.

Jay Hsu (art, grades 5-8)
In his 3rd year at MHMS, Mr.Hsu is excited to continue his art program for 5th-8th graders at MHMS. Mr.Hsu holds a Bachelor’s degree for Applied Science in Motion Graphic Design from the Ex'pression College for Digital Arts Emeryville, CA. With a special love for teaching, Mr.Hsu is currently working on his Masters in Education. He has over 4 years of experience instructing children of ages four to fifteen. Mr.Hsu looks forward to sharing his knowledge and creativity with the students at MHMS.
Ryan Cooper (computer)
This is Ms. Gaëlle Goutain’s 2nd year at MHMS, teaching French to the Middle School students. A native of the French Alps, Gaëlle has a journalism diploma from the University of Grenoble, and a teaching diploma from the Alliance Française of Paris. She has been teaching French to students from 4 to 85 years old since 2005. She has lived in France, the UK, and the USA, and has enjoyed sharing her culture with students from various backgrounds. When she is not teaching, she likes to read mystery novels, run in the Coyote Hills, and spend time with her family and her two dogs.
Mr.Pace has over 18 years of teaching experience. He has a BA in Classical Greek from BYU, and an MA in Classical Philology from UCLA. He loves languages (fluent in multiple languages), poetry, literature, art, music, science, drama, and films with subtitles. As an aspiring author himself, Ms.Pace tries to help students unlock their inner author. He also loves to incorporate music into his classroom. In his 5th year at MHMS, Mr.Pace is very excited to teach French to all of the elementary grades. When he is not teaching, Mr.Pace loves to spend time with his wife and two children.
Frida Larson in Union City
Ms. Larson will be teaching Spanish to the middle school students. Born and raised in Mexico, Ms. Larson received her B.A. in Tourism and Spanish from Universidad de Guadalajara. She later attended Culinary School in Mexico to further her passion of cooking. Prior to moving to the USA, Ms.Larson tsught in Gremany and Spain. In her free time, she enjoys attedning cultural events, arts, and tutoring students of all ages in Spanish. She is excited about teaching the Spanish language and culture at MHMS.

In her 9thth year at MHMS, Mrs.Leon continues to run the MHMS Physical Education Program with the uttermost enthusiasm and care, encouraging the students to always do their best and have fun. She sometimes holds her classes out on the field, timing the kids as they run and exercise. Other times, she takes them to the gym for basketball, volleyball, hockey, or indoor soccer. Mrs.Leon continuously looks for ways to improve the physical education program at MHMS.

In his 7thth year as the assistant PE teacher and the head basketball coach at MHMS, Coach Kevin brings smiles everywhere he goes. Students love his sense of humor, his inspirational words, and his encouraging ways.

Ms.Lei (Hanilie Yadao) runs the MHMS Lunch Program. With her beautiful smile, her willingness to go the extra mile, and her ability to handle the catered lunches, she is loved by everyone. Ms.Lei is also the parent of a 5th grader at MHMS!
Ms.Sandyha takes care of our front desk-- from phone calls to snack needs, she tends to students, staff members, parents, and visitors. If you stop by the school, she'll be sure to greet you with a big smile! She has 2 sons attending MHMS.
Mr.Bradley McLean is in charge of security and assists Mr.Sean in supervising the students and campus through out the day.
Ms.Emma, Ms.Juana, Ms.Luisa, Ms.Maria, Ms.Mytzi, Ms.Rachel are the teachers' aides that are on duty during all recesses, lunchtime, and during the before & after school daycare. They supervise & guide the children, play with them, listen to them, and take care of them. They share many laughs, wipe many hands, and magically make many injuries disappear! We totally appreciate their hard work and dedication!
